Weekly Links 26-31
Templatemaker.nl — Brilliant site that generates templates for various things, like bags, envelopes, boxes, etc. (Disclaimer: A long time agao, I helped with some translations)
Ink/Stitch — “An open-source machine embroidery design platform based on Inkscape.” I don’t have an embroidery machine, but this looks really nifty!
This tattoo is permanent, painfree, and might soon come in the mail — OK, so v smol, and V limited choices, but I’m sure someone will come up with a much smarter use for the tech.
How to Replace Yeast with Sourdough Starter and Vice Versa — Helpful guide. I’m going to start up the sourdough again (once I’m up for it, ugh), and sometimes I want to make a yeast-based recipe and had little clue on how to convert.
Piper - Neural TTS (Github) (App Store) — “Experience high-quality offline neural text-to-speech directly on your device.” Apple’s TTS voices have stood still for a few years, so I started using this for higher quality voices with the Speech Central app.
Tinycast — I haven’t tried this yet, but it looks very interesting. I use RayCast right now, and though I like it, I’m not a fan of the AI push, etc. TBH, RayCast is also overkill for most of my uses.
Writing by Hand is Good for your Brain (Substack)— Neal Stephenson’s thoughts on writing by hand, and his tips on how to do it.
- webri.ng — “The Unofficial weblog.lol Webring.” I'm a big fan of this push towards a vibrant indieweb, and there are some neat blogs here! (I blog on Bear, but I do have an omg.lol address, and maybe I'll figure something out to use my blep domain for there.)
